2017: The Year of Rainy Wedding Days

What a fabulous year 2017 was for me! I had the BEST couples that I worked with and such beautiful weddings! I had church weddings, backyard weddings, rainy weddings, hot weddings, and this Friday I will have my last wedding of the year with a forecast high of seven degrees!

One thing that couples always worry about is the weather! And who wouldn't?!?! I mean you plan your perfect wedding day for a long time but in order for it to go perfect and have perfectly beautiful pictures you have to have perfect weather right!? Wrong! I had SIX rainy weddings this year! SIX!!! For some, rain was an issue more than others but it still weighed heavily on everyone!

As a professional photographer, it is my job to figure out how we are going to get you beautiful photos no matter what the weather may have in store! I work closely with you to talk about your comfort level with taking pictures in the rain and creating back up plans just in case outside photos are not an option. So if it happens to rain on your wedding day, I hope that these photos will make you feel better and prove that you can still have beautiful photos even if it is raining!

Moli and Kyle's outdoor wedding turned into a shed wedding but it turned out LOVELY! Portrait time was spent outside )with umbrellas part of the time) and partly inside the shed. We even had breaks in the rain where we set the umbrellas to the side and just had them on standby. ;)

The guys had fun with the umbrellas.... :)

Ashley and Tony planned their entire wedding in just 5 weeks! And it rained off and on all day long! But we still got ALL of their wedding photos taken outside in between drizzle.

Christine and Mike... ALSO rain all through the portrait time! We were lucky though because we had overhangs that we could do photos under and even got little portions of time when it stopped raining. Their photos turned out great!

Emily and Daniel planned an outdoor, backyard wedding. Forecast....rain.... they were still married outside while their guests sat under a large tent. When it started to rain, out came my giant umbrellas for the wedding party. It rained off and on all day and then it really came down during the reception. They were really the best sports ever! They really wanted outdoor pictures together even if that meant they got a little wet so all of their bride and groom photos were done in the rain. It was mostly coming down lightly but it picked up. They were the best couple ever and are so happy that they braved the rain!

Ashley and Devon were pretty lucky with the weather on their wedding day. We thought we were all good for picture time until we were just finishing up with the wedding party and it started to rain! Caught us by surprise! We still had family pictures to do though. We hid underneath some trees and then the rain was barely coming through. We finished all of their family pictures in about 10 minutes flat! It is amazing how fast you can go when rain is threatening!

This was one of the last wedding party photos before the rain came!

By the end of the day the rain had cleared and we had a beautiful sunset!

Ashley and Seth were even luckier with their weather! They planned their wedding to take place on a softball field but the forecast wasn't looking good. All week it looked like it was going to rain all day for their wedding. The day came and the forecast shifted to the rain starting later. So we got to do all of their pictures outside and they still got married on a softball field! Once all of the guests had went on their way to the reception.... the rain came! And then it rained and rained all night! :)

Such a great first look... I may have joined in with the tears...

These groomsmen were a hoot! And a first for me with them all pulling their pants down for a photo!

So don't let a little rain get your down and remember that rain on your wedding day is good luck!
